According to Mehr News Agency, in the joint meeting of the governor of Ardabil with the director general of the province's public libraries, which was held centred on reviewing the issues, problems and development of study spaces, 'Farzad Ghalandari', referring to the unparalleled place of books and reading in raising the level of public culture and the insight of society, stated: The balanced development of cultural infrastructure, including libraries, paves the way for sustainable development, and in this regard the government supports the projects and programmes of this field with all its might.

He, stressing the necessity of pursuing and allocating the necessary credits for equipping, renovating and removing the construction and equipment shortcomings of the libraries of Ardabil County, added: Libraries should not be merely a space for lending books; rather, they must become active cultural bases and centres of intellectual inquiry for young people and adolescents, which requires the injection of up-to-date financial and equipment resources.

Farzad Ghalandari, in continuation, referring to the key role of municipalities in advancing the cultural affairs of cities, stated: Municipalities, as public and service institutions, bear a heavy responsibility towards the development of cultural spaces; therefore, it is expected that with special attention and the timely payment of the libraries' half-percent share, they assist this institution in providing more desirable services to citizens.

At this meeting, also, solutions for speeding up the implementation of the half-finished library projects, improving the access of less-advantaged areas to study spaces, and strengthening the cultural and book-reading promotion programmes were discussed and exchanged, and appropriate decisions were taken.
