According to an ILNA reporter, today, Sunday (October 25), a number of steel industry retirees in Tehran, appearing in front of the building of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare located on Azadi Street, demanded attention to their demands and requests.
These retirees listed their most important demands as the implementation of the Steel Employment Regulations (approved by the Council of Ministers), the special steel medical treatment laws and the revival of its legal status. They emphasized: 'We demand the reform of pension equalization based on 90 percent of an equivalent active employee, the preservation of the legal identity and status of steel retirees, and an increase of our 2026 pensions based on the inflation rate.'
Among the demands of this group are the return of the dignity and status of the retirees of Zob Ahan and the participants of the Steel Fund, designating the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade (IMIDRO) as the executive body of the Steel Fund to establish steel medical treatment and welfare, and also reforming the structure of steel retirees' affairs in such a way that a retiree does not need to shout in the street to claim his basic and vital rights.
One of the retirees said in this regard: 'Regarding the steel identity of the retirees, one can point to the lack of definition and acceptance of responsibility by IMIDRO and the National Iranian Steel Company as the executive body of these retirees. Is it not the case that every state retiree has an executive body that makes possible the retiree's medical treatment and welfare assistance? Is it not the case that the Steel Employment Regulations are in principle the uniform employment regulations of the companies and units affiliated with the Ministry of Mines and Metals and a resolution of the Council of Ministers? So why has the executive body of steel retirees been hidden?'
He also added: 'Until before the transfer of the steel units in the years 2011 to 2013, our treatment directives were prepared and approved by IMIDRO, but after that, the responsibility was taken away from them and they announced that, contrary to the law, they had placed treatment on the transferred companies.'
The retirees of the Steel Fund asked the officials of the Ministry of Labor to address the demands raised by them.
It is worth noting that, at the same time, a group of Isfahan steel retirees gathered in front of the governor's office.
