According to IRIB News Agency, through the efforts of the Scientific and Research Department of the Basij Organization of Tehran Municipality, a joint meeting of officials of the Basij Organization of Tehran Municipality and the Shahid Beheshti Faculty of Governance of the Supreme National Defense University was held with the aim of developing scientific, educational, and research interactions and harnessing shared capacities to upgrade the urban management system.
At the meeting, Mohammad-Mehdi Hassanzadeh, head of the Basij Organization of Tehran Municipality, outlining the organization's missions based on the Basij strategic document, listed raising the level of faith, strengthening physical capabilities, and developing skill-based training leading to effective deployment as key axes of the organization's activities.
Emphasizing the necessity of harnessing scientific and university capacities to realize these missions, he considered it essential to develop and deepen theoretical and scientific discussions and to achieve practical solutions in the realm of urban governance, and stated: Training and educating young, future-building governors in the field of Islamic city governance, creating platforms for strategic thought, empowering urban decision-making, and producing useful, indigenous, reference-making, and efficient knowledge to respond to urban issues and challenges are among the goals pursued within this joint cooperation.
Mohammad Torabi, scientific and research director of the Basij Organization of Tehran Municipality, also emphasized at the meeting the necessity of moving toward knowledge-based, future-oriented, problem-focused, and people-based urban governance, and stated: Cooperation between the university and urban management should not be limited to holding training courses; rather, this interaction can lay the groundwork for a shared ecosystem for learning, decision-making, and solving real urban management problems.
At the meeting, shared capacities in the fields of empowering managers and staff, developing specialized training, carrying out applied research, and designing new models of urban governance were reviewed and discussed.
In the end, the agreement on scientific, educational, and research cooperation between the Basij Organization of Tehran Municipality and the Shahid Beheshti Faculty of Governance of the Supreme National Defense University was signed; an agreement concluded with the aim of synergizing scientific and executive capacities, developing effective training, and harnessing specialized knowledge to improve human capital capabilities and increase the efficiency of urban management.
