According to ILNA, citing TASS, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the European Union is not acting constructively, because it constantly talks about appointing negotiators regarding the Ukraine conflict, but does nothing.
Peskov, in an interview with TASS news agency regarding reports that Alexander Stubb, the President of Finland, has potentially been proposed for this role, said: 'Brussels either lacks the willingness or the necessary resolve to take such a step.'
He stated: 'The European Union has long wanted to appoint a negotiator, but either it does not have the ability to appoint one, or it cannot bring itself to do so. It is hard to describe this European position as constructive.'
Peskov noted: 'At present, they are only talking and take no action.'
He emphasized that Moscow supports the appointment of a negotiator by the European Union, although it is important to make sure that such an envoy is committed to a peaceful agreement.
