Yousef Azizi, in a debate with Rahman Ghahremanpour, said: I have always said, I said let us reach nuclear deterrence and then go and normalize with America. Let us normalize relations with America. Regarding Israel too, let us say, sir, the Arabs did whatever they did, but if we do not reach nuclear deterrence, should we enter into a negotiation–deal with America, America will not come and make an honourable and equal deal. It comes and first says nuclear, then it says missiles, then it says drones, then it says regional, and then it attacks you until your card is finished and gone. Just like the thing it did with Iraq, and Russia did with Ukraine.
He added: Therefore I agree, this thing you are saying, the cost must be reduced, but how is this cost reduced? You deliver deterrence, you establish the balance, come and sit at the negotiating table, normalize with him, exchange ambassadors. It is what I wish for. That is, if ambassadors are exchanged with America, it is what I wish for; I lived there for 13 years. It is what I wish for that Iran–America relations become good, and I believe that in the future order we must not rely only on China and Russia; we must create a balance between the great powers. The very thing that many countries are doing. But unfortunately this is not possible without having nuclear deterrence.
