Citing the Associated Press, Serbian police announced today, Wednesday, that an unidentified attacker assaulted a guard outside the Israeli embassy in Belgrade with a knife.

Ivica Dačić, Serbia's Minister of Interior, described the incident as an act of terrorism, adding that the terror threat level has been raised to the highest level and the police presence at key locations has been increased.

He stated that the police officer killed the attacker in self-defense and sustained minor injuries.

Pointing out that the attacker was an ISIS supporter, the Serbian Interior Minister added that Serbian security agencies had been monitoring him.
