According to KhabarOnline, Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a message on the occasion of the "National Conference of the Kurdish Woman," while stressing the need to honor the place of Kurdish women in Iran's history and culture, described their role in safeguarding cultural heritage, consolidating the foundations of the family, raising future generations and being present in the arenas of sacrifice and selflessness as valuable and enduring.
According to Mehr, the text of the President's message is as follows:
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recognizing and introducing the place and image of the authentic Kurdish woman is a step toward honoring the status of women and rediscovering part of the history, culture and identity of dear Iran; women who throughout history, alongside safeguarding cultural heritage, consolidating the foundations of the family and raising future generations, have played a role in the scientific, cultural and social arenas and especially on the fields of sacrifice and selflessness, leaving behind an enduring legacy.
Kurdish women are an inseparable part of Iran's historical memory and social capital. Rediscovering their lives, experiences and achievements, in addition to deepening our knowledge of the history and culture of this land, helps strengthen national solidarity and safeguard the cultural and social bonds of Iranians.
For me, who was myself born in the Kurdish-inhabited city of Mahabad and during the Sacred Defense witnessed firsthand the selflessness and steadfastness of the women of this region, rediscovering their role is not merely a rereading of part of history, but a reminder of enduring manifestations of the sacrifice and endurance of women who, in the hardest days of the imposed war, alongside the grave responsibility of preserving the foundations of the family and raising children, also played an effective and courageous role in defending the homeland.
Today, recording and narrating their lives, struggles and experiences and passing this precious legacy on to the younger generations is a worthy step in honoring historical memory and safeguarding the values of sacrifice and resistance.
I believe that achieving sustainable development requires attention to women's capabilities and the provision of fair opportunities for their effective participation. Women are not merely the audience of development policies; they are among the main pillars of the country's progress.
Drawing on their capacities in the arenas of science, culture, economy and management increases society's ability to solve problems and build a better future. From this perspective, introducing and honoring learned and influential women lays the ground for strengthening social capital and expanding opportunities for the talents of future generations to flourish.
Today, dear Iran, in order to attain dignity and pride and to draw on all its capacities, needs more than ever the inclusive participation of the people, the recognition of ethnic and cultural diversity, and the creation of grounds for human capabilities to flourish across the country.
Kurdistan Province and other Kurdish-inhabited regions of the country, with their rich cultural and social background, have always had, and continue to have, a valuable share in building a more prosperous and advanced Iran. Strengthening these capacities requires consolidating accord and social solidarity, cooperation and synergy among executive bodies and scientific and cultural centers, and, most importantly, providing the necessary opportunities for the effective presence and participation of women in various arenas.
It is expected that the achievements of the "National Conference of the Kurdish Woman," in addition to introducing and honoring renowned Kurdish women, will lead to the recording, compilation and publication of authoritative research, the deepening of studies on the identity, status and role of women, and the formulation of practical and effective programs to support their talents and capabilities.
While honoring the status and place of all the women and girls of our dear homeland, I sincerely thank all those involved in organizing this cultural event, the researchers, the creators of works and the learned women who have added to its richness with their knowledge, experience and effort.
It is hoped that this event will be an enduring step in introducing and honoring the capabilities of Kurdish women, strengthening cultural and social bonds, and providing the grounds for fair enjoyment of the human capacities of this land.
Masoud Pezeshkian
President of the Islamic Republic of Iran
