The former US president, on the eve of the country's midterm elections, sharply criticized Trump.
Young Journalists Club; Maryam Hosseini Barack Obama, the former President of the United States, on Saturday at campaign rallies in Cleveland and Detroit, sharply criticizing Donald Trump, the Republican President of this country, accused him of corruption and mocked his administration's strategy toward Iran and the flashy changes at the White House.
Only 10 days remain until the US midterm elections; elections that will determine the fate of control of a Congress with a close balance between the two parties.
Obama, in Michigan and in support of Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate in the Senate election, likened the November 3 election to a "circuit breaker switch" that could curb at least part of the Trump administration's "stupid behaviors."
He said: "We must flip this switch and restore accountability to the government."
Obama, who was President of the United States from 2009 until the beginning of Trump's first presidential term in 2017, is still considered one of the popular figures of the Democratic Party. Democrats hope his presence in the election campaign can mobilize the party's supporters in the close Senate race in Michigan; a race in which El-Sayed faces Mike Rogers, the former Republican representative in Congress.
The former US President, addressing Democratic supporters and criticizing Trump and the Republicans who support him, said: "We have never seen a president who, like him, is so skilled in financial abuse and personal profiteering, and that with the people's money."
He added: "We have never seen a president who is so bent on selling privileges. It now seems that this party represents a corrupt, inefficient government, or even no government at all."
According to a joint Reuters and Ipsos poll in August, 63 percent of Americans believe that Trump and his family have inappropriately profited from the cryptocurrency sphere since his return to the White House. Also, 69 percent of the participants said that Trump's political decisions are influenced by his private business activities.
Obama also mocked the Trump administration's claims of victory in the war against Iran and said this war, by increasing concerns about insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz, has strengthened Tehran's economic leverage.
He stated: "Iran now has veto power over the Strait of Hormuz, through which oil is transferred to the world."
The former US President also accused the Trump administration of focusing on unimportant issues. In a sarcastic tone, he described Pete Hegseth, the US Secretary of War, as a person who is especially focused on trivial matters concerning military personnel.
Obama also criticized the changes and renovations at the White House and said: "He has made the White House as if Saddam Hussein has opened a branch of the Cheesecake Factory restaurants."
