The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly emphasized: We will not be intimidated, and we are ready, in the face of any act of aggression against the territorial integrity of greater Iran, to give the enemies a response beyond imagination.
- Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in his pre-agenda speech at the beginning of today's (Sunday, October 25) in-person-webinar open session of Parliament, pointing to the anniversary of Imam Khomeini's (ra) historic protest against the Capitulation law on October 26, 1964, said: The late Imam on that day cried out against the subservient Pahlavi rule that this enactment is the document of the enslavement of the Iranian nation and the selling of the independence and dignity of an ancient and Muslim nation in exchange for American dollars.
Continuing, offering condolences on the days of the martyrdom of Hazrat Fatimah al-Zahra (sa), he stated: Her courageous defense of the sanctuary of Velayat taught all of us steadfastness in the face of the enemy and having insight in the most difficult conditions. I hope that the mourning of the dear people of Iran is accepted by the Divine Court and rewarded.
The Bond Between America and the Zionist Regime; the Axis of Domination over the Nations of the Region
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, pointing to the historic words of Imam Khomeini (ra) in opposition to capitulation, stated: The strategic and insight-enhancing point of the Imam's words on that day was exposing the inseparable bond between America and the Zionist regime; a bond whose truthfulness has today become more apparent than at any other time.
Ghalibaf, continuing, pointing to part of the words of Imam Khomeini (ra), said: The late Imam emphasized that every affliction of the Iranian nation and the Muslim nations is from foreigners; America has plundered our underground resources, and England too, for long years, took Iran's oil at a negligible price. He also stated that if yesterday the Islamic countries were caught by England and its agents, today they are in the clutches of America and its agents.
He continued: The late Imam revealed on that day that the abominable Pahlavi regime had slaughtered the destiny and economy of the country at the feet of the interests of America and the Zionists. Today too, after nearly six decades, the criminal actions of the Zionist regime in the region and Washington's efforts, through sanctions, assassination, and military and economic actions, to break the will of the Iranian nation are the continuation of that same domination-seeking.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, stating that today's fundamental difference from the year 1964 lies in the independence and power of the Iranian nation, said: The Iranian nation, under the guidance of the late Imam and the martyred Imam, has over the past 47 years torn the chains of captivity. Our beloved Iran today is not only not a colony of the advisors of the West and the East, but is an authoritative and independent power in the region that has forever turned the dream of the renewed domination of arrogance and Zionism over the destiny of this nation into a nightmare.
Ghalibaf, pointing to America's efforts to exert pressure on Iran, stated: The Americans imagine that with a few media pressure levers or military threats they can make this great nation surrender; unaware that today's Iran is not the Iran of the Pahlavi era of humiliation, but a strong fortress of self-belief, defense capability, and an iron will that will never allow any foreign power to decide for the dignity of this land.
He further emphasized: We will not be intimidated, and we are ready, in the face of any act of aggression against the territorial integrity of greater Iran, to give the enemies a response beyond imagination. The threat of extensive war or assassination is not an issue that would cause the Iranian nation to back down from its rights and interests.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly noted: As long as the Americans do not change their behavior, do not abandon their bullying and greedy nature, and do not compensate for their violated commitments in an objective, tangible, and real manner in practice, none of their claims will have the slightest credibility for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ghalibaf, stating that Iran has nothing new to say, said: It was America that, with wrong calculations and war against Iran, entered a quagmire, and now the Americans themselves must take the necessary actions to save themselves.
The Government Should Act to Curb the High Prices and Support the People's Livelihood
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in another part of his remarks, pointing to the continuous high prices of basic goods, emphasized the need for the government's attention to the people's livelihood and table, and said: The constant and ongoing high prices of basic goods have placed a heavy burden on the shoulders of the people, especially the deprived, workers, retirees, and the underprivileged strata.
Expressing appreciation for the 50 percent increase in the amount of the Kalabarg for part of the people, he stated: This action can be a help in supplying basic goods, but alongside it, confronting the high prices and paying attention to the processes of distributing basic goods must also continue, so that the people's livelihood and table are the last point to be harmed by war and sanctions.
Ghalibaf added: The Islamic Consultative Assembly has provided the necessary regulations and resources both in permanent laws and in the Seventh Development Plan, and is ready to help the government in this regard.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, continuing, pointing to the situation of the guilds and the stores implementing the Kalabarg scheme, said: Some field studies show that occasional delays in settling the claims of the stores and small distribution units have put the working capital of the shopkeepers under pressure, especially in conditions of currency fluctuations.
He further emphasized: Parliament's expectation of the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare and the financial departments is that they regulate the process of settling accounts with the stores in a completely orderly and rule-based manner, so that both the people's livelihood is supported and the supply chain and the guilds' businesses are not harmed.
Targeting a Reduction of at Least 10 Percent in Gas Consumption
Ghalibaf, in another part of his remarks, pointing to the need to prevent energy imbalance on the eve of the cold season of the year with national effort, stated: Waste and non-optimal consumption of energy have for years manifested themselves as a structural challenge, and safeguarding the country's vital resources has always been among the compassionate demands of the martyred Leader of the Revolution.
Pointing to the legal capacities provided for in the Seventh Development Plan, he said: The Islamic Consultative Assembly, in the form of sub-paragraph 2 of clause 'P' of Article 46 of the Seventh Plan Law, has provided the legal mechanism of savings certificates, and today nearly 100 private companies have entered this arena.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, explaining the mechanism of savings certificates, added: In simple language, any individual or group that saves in gas consumption must receive the income resulting from this saving in their bank account, so that the effect of saving on the household economy becomes tangibly clear.
Ghalibaf continued: Our demand of the government, the Ministry of Petroleum, and the National Gas Company is that, by supporting investors, they accelerate the issuance of savings certificates before the saving is realized.
Emphasizing that getting through the coming winter requires national mobilization, he said: We expect IRIB, other media, people's institutions, Islamic councils, and the governors of the whole country, by activating the capacity of neighborhoods and households, to realize the goal of reducing gas consumption by at least 10 percent.
The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated: We must do something so that concerned compatriots see saving not as a one-sided sacrifice, but as economic participation, and benefit directly from the advantages resulting from it, so that with the companionship of the proud people of Iran, we pass through this pass with honor as well.
After the end of the speech of the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the representatives present on the Parliament floor rose from their places and, with clenched fists, chanted the slogans 'Death to America' and 'Death to Israel.'
