IRNA: The press conference of Esmail Baghaei, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, was held today, October 26, 2026, with journalists and media representatives in attendance.
Regarding the latest status of Iran-Iraq borders and certain claims made by Iraqi officials regarding Iran, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated: "In connection with the Iran-Pakistan borders, Pakistani officials stated from the outset that the issue is technical and that updates need to be made in the relevant systems. They also raised security concerns. Of course, we have also heard that a few terrorist acts had been planned or were on the verge of occurring."
He added: "Our consultations with Pakistan are ongoing and the negotiation process is positive. We hope that the technical problems raised by the Pakistani side will be fully resolved as soon as possible."
Noting that regarding Iraq as well, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad and our consulates in the country are seriously pursuing the issue, Baghaei pointed out: "Iraqi officials themselves have referred to US pressures. We must take into consideration the interests and benefits of both nations. This issue is not merely an emotional and sentimental matter, neither for us nor for the people of Iraq; although sentiment and emotion are also important. It should be noted that US actions and its illegal sanctions, in addition to sowing discord in relations between countries, will also have consequences and impacts for the people of neighboring countries. With the knowledge of this issue, the officials of neighboring countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran are seriously pursuing the matter, and we hope the raised problems will be resolved."
