According to a Mehr correspondent, Sara Fallahi, on Sunday morning at the national "Kurdish Lady" conference in Sanandaj, referring to the position of women in Iran's culture and history, stated: In the religious view, both women and men possess the capacity to attain high spiritual ranks, and the human soul, regardless of gender, has the capability for transcendence and growth.
Stating that speaking of the Kurdish lady is a reminder of the identity and the entirety of Iran, she added: The Kurdish people are among the authentic and deeply rooted peoples of this land, who throughout history have played a role in various cultural arenas and in the defense of Iran.
The representative of the people of Ilam in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referring to the separation of part of the Kurdish peoples from the land of Iran in historical periods, stated: The decisions and incompetence of some past rulers caused part of our Kurdish kin to live in other countries, but their cultural bonds and Iranian identity still endure.
Emphasizing the role of women in preserving the culture and oral history of Kurdistan, Fallahi said: In Kurdish culture, a woman is not defined merely in relation to others; rather, she is an independent personality and a bearer of culture, courage, authenticity and grandeur. Kurdish women have played an important role in transmitting traditions and historical narratives to later generations and have prevented a large part of this people's cultural heritage from being forgotten.
Referring to the traditional dress of Kurdish women, she stated: The local dress of Kurdish ladies is part of Iran's cultural identity and authenticity, and it holds within itself symbols of the history, beliefs and cultural roots of this region.
Kurdish Women: A Symbol of Courage and of Guarding Iran's Identity
The representative of the people of Ilam in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referring to female figures in Iran's myths and literature, including Gordafarid in the Shahnameh, said: In historical and epic narratives, Iranian women have been symbols of wisdom, courage and defense of the homeland, and Kurdish women too, in various periods and with these same qualities, have played a role in preserving Iran's identity and borders.
Referring to the role of the mothers of martyrs during the period of the defense of the country, Fallahi added: The mothers who offered their children on the path of defending the homeland are an embodiment of the sacrifice and selflessness of Iranian women; with their patience and steadfastness, they have had a share in guarding the homeland and preserving national dignity.
She continued: Today too, Kurdish women, alongside other segments of society, bear responsibility in guarding the cultural identity, the human and social boundaries and the territorial integrity of Iran, and they can, through an effective presence in various arenas, continue their historical role.
The Need for Women to Play a Role in Building Iran's Future
The representative of the people of Ilam in the Islamic Consultative Assembly emphasized: Kurdish women must, by recognizing their historical position and their capacities, play a role in building Iran's future, in such a way that future generations too preserve lasting narratives of their courage, wisdom and effort.
In conclusion, referring to the poems of Khan Mansour Ivani, the Kurdish poet, Fallahi emphasized the deep bond of Kurdish identity with Iranian identity and the necessity of guarding the integrity of the land of Iran.
