According to ILNA, from the Youth Deputy of the Ministry of Sports, Alireza Rahimi, the Deputy for Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Sports, in line with realizing the communicated policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and following the President's repeated emphases at the cabinet meeting of October 18, 2026 (26 Mehr 1405) that 'environmental protection and sustainable development are not marginal; rather, they are an irreplaceable priority in all of the country's major decision-making,' notified the general departments of sports and youth of the provinces of the comprehensive directive on environmental requirements in holding youth-sector events, titled the 'Green Event' directive.

This directive, aimed at reducing resource consumption, managing waste, preventing the excessive use of disposable items, and institutionalizing the culture of environmental protection, has been notified by Alireza Rahimi, the Deputy for Youth Affairs of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, for implementation in all youth-sector programs and events at the provincial level.

This directive, prepared and pursued by the Office of National and Transnational Youth Plans of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, aimed at reducing resource consumption, managing waste, preventing the excessive use of disposable items, and institutionalizing the culture of environmental protection, has been notified for implementation in all youth-sector programs and events at the provincial level.

Under this directive, observing environmental requirements in training courses, workshops, staff meetings, festivals, camps and other youth events is mandatory for executive secretaries, implementing NGOs and partner organizations.

Waste reduction and the elimination of disposable items, reducing the use of printed materials and replacing them with digital information tools, using electronic certificates, and making use of reusable items, aimed at preventing wastefulness, are among the requirements for holding youth events.

Under this directive, using the capacity of young volunteers and environmental NGOs in the form of 'Young Green Ambassadors,' separating waste at source, linking events to tree-planting programs and green-space development, and promoting the use of public and shared transport, aimed at strengthening youth participation in environmental protection, have been emphasized.

Also, using environmentally friendly gifts, local handicrafts and products made in local workshops are among the other axes of this plan for linking environmental responsibility with support for the provinces' economic capacities.

Under the envisaged supervisory mechanism, executive secretaries are obliged to record environmental indicators, including the amount of paper consumption saved, the number of plastic bottles eliminated, and the state of waste management, in the final report of each event, in order to monitor the provinces' performance in implementing the Green Event.

The level of adherence to the 'Green Event' directive will be taken into account in the annual performance evaluation of the provinces, and provinces and organizations that implement effective initiatives in reducing waste and carbon footprint will be commended.

The implementation of this directive is pursued in line with strengthening social responsibility, increasing youth participation in environmental protection, and turning youth-sector programs into a practical model for optimal resource consumption and sustainable development.
