According to KhabarOnline, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in response to the question of what path he thinks exists to exit the neither-war-nor-peace limbo, given that some raise the negotiation-versus-resistance duality regarding exiting the neither war nor peace state, said: Negotiation will be effective when it is backed by military power. Therefore negotiation without military authority means a giant without backing; a negotiation that has no real backing will not be effective. Therefore, our power in terms of deterrence must certainly be such that the enemy submits to this power. These two issues are not separate from each other and must be evaluated and analysed alongside each other.
As reported by Jamaran, he added: On the other hand, resistance, which always exists, and from another perspective, war is a war of resilience, that is, a war of wills, and the enemy tries, with a naval, air and land blockade, to create conditions in which the Iranian nation surrenders and can no longer continue its resistance. The enemy is unaware that the Iranian nation is smarter than that, and the military forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran also have the capability to continue their policies with authority despite decades of sanctions. As you can see, the Americans in this period could not take the Islamic Republic of Iran's new power, namely control over the Strait of Hormuz, out of its hands.
Boroujerdi, in response to the question of what he thinks the way out of these conditions is, given that the president recently expressed grievance about the neither war nor peace situation, stated: In any case, we must increase our level of deterrence militarily and strengthen our military power. This requires a medium- and long-term plan, but in the short term too, with the measures that have been taken, conditions have formed in which the enemy has realised that if it makes a miscalculation and restarts operations, the greater loss will be its own.
A member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly declared: If the enemy wants to enter the arena of infrastructure war, we will certainly hold against America the actions of all the countries whose space America uses to attack us, and we consider those countries our legitimate targets.
Boroujerdi, in response to the question of whether he means that merely by increasing the level of deterrence we can exit the neither war nor peace state, noted: Yes, it is certainly so.
This member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, about whether what he means by increasing deterrence is withdrawing from the NPT, recalled: This matter has its own discussion, but what is meant by increasing deterrence is not necessarily withdrawing from the NPT; in any case, at times of necessity we will take any decision that preserves our national interests and national security.
