An artificial intelligence system for identifying thieves and fraudsters in gold and jewelry units was unveiled.

- Judge Esmail Akbari, the Social Deputy and head of crime prevention at the Justice Administration of Fars Province, at the unveiling ceremony of the "Smart Eye" system for preventing theft and fraud in the gold and jewelry market, while appreciating the measures taken to improve safety and prevent crime through the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence, emphasized the need for the responsible bodies to cooperate with the gold and jewelry trade in developing and operationalizing smart crime-prevention mechanisms.

Referring to the importance of the participation of trade guilds in crime prevention, he stated: It is expected that part of guild activities be devoted to the field of prevention, since this approach, in addition to responding to the needs of guild members, can increase confidence in the market and is also aligned with the goals of governing institutions in the field of crime prevention.

Appreciating the pioneering role of activists in this field in using new technologies, Judge Akbari added: We will strive, by holding specialized meetings with officials and members of the guild, to examine the proposed mechanisms and, within the framework of laws and regulations, to provide the necessary support for developing and implementing these measures.

The Need for Rapid Notification to Prevent Theft and Fraud

The Social Deputy and head of crime prevention at the Fars Justice Administration, referring to the sensitivity of the activity of the gold and jewelry trade, stated: In this trade, because of the nature of the activity and the high value of the goods, issues such as theft and fraud are of special importance, and time plays a decisive role in identifying and confronting these crimes. Therefore, rapid and timely notification of guild members and the responsible authorities is an unavoidable necessity.

He continued: Connecting this system to the capacities of the police can provide the ground for the rapid transfer of information and help in the timely identification of suspicious cases and in increasing the speed of response to crimes.

Emphasizing the need for coordination among the responsible bodies, Akbari noted: A legal and executive mechanism must be defined for this plan through the cooperation of the prosecutor's office, the Social and Crime Prevention Deputy of the Justice Administration and the Criminal Investigation Police, so that, while benefiting from existing capacities, its operationalization becomes possible in the shortest time.

The Need to Reduce the Costs of Implementing the System for Guild Members

Also referring to the importance of the welcome and participation of guild members in implementing the plan, he said: The design and implementation of this system must be such that it entails the minimum cost for guild units. Using the capacity of existing equipment, including the cameras installed in guild units, can be effective in reducing costs and facilitating the implementation of the plan.

The Social Deputy and head of crime prevention at the Fars Justice Administration, referring to the measures taken in designing this system using artificial intelligence, stated: The measures taken in this field create a valuable capacity for the prevention of crime, and the responsible bodies must also, through support and cooperation, provide the ground for its completion and exploitation.

In conclusion, Akbari announced the holding of a specialized meeting in the Crime Prevention Committee with the presence of representatives of the prosecutor's office, the Social and Crime Prevention Deputy of the Justice Administration and the Criminal Investigation Police, and emphasized: In this meeting, the various dimensions of the plan, the legal requirements and the methods of cooperation will be examined, so that through the synergy of the responsible bodies and the gold and jewelry trade, the ground for the rapid and effective implementation of this plan is provided.

Saeidreza Chaparian, the CEO of this Fars-based knowledge-based company, announced the unveiling of the "Smart Eye" system using artificial intelligence technology, and said: This system has been designed with the aim of increasing the security of gold and jewelry guild units and preventing serial thefts and fraud.

Explaining how this system works, Chaparian stated: Images of people with a record of theft and fraud are stored in the database of the system's server, and by installing the related software and connecting the cameras present in the guild units to the system, it becomes possible to identify the people registered in this database.

He added: If a person whose image is registered in the system enters a guild unit, a warning is displayed via the application installed on the gold seller's mobile phone and on the rate announcement board located in the shop, so that the guild activist can act with greater awareness of the situation that has arisen.

Referring to the possibility of using ordinary equipment in implementing this plan, Chaparian said: To benefit from this system, in many cases the cameras already present in the shop or an ordinary webcam can be used, and by installing the related software, the possibility of receiving security warnings can be provided.

Stating that the main goal of launching this system is to reduce the losses inflicted on activists of the gold and jewelry trade, he continued: Internet frauds, substitution scams and recurring thefts have caused considerable losses to our colleagues and in some cases have also led to the blocking of their bank accounts. Using smart technologies can help to increase awareness and prevent the repetition of such incidents.

Chaparian also emphasized the importance of the cooperation of the law enforcement force in completing and developing this system, and said: If the law enforcement authorities cooperate and lawful access to the information and images of people with a criminal record is made possible, valid data can be coordinated with the system and its identification and warning capacity increased.

Continuing, he referred to the need to observe legal considerations in publishing images of individuals and stated: There is a difference between the public publication of images of individuals and the use of information to issue a security warning, and the development of these capabilities must be carried out taking into account legal regulations and the rights of individuals.

In conclusion, Chaparian referred to the importance of rapid notification in the prevention of crimes and said: Timely identification of suspicious individuals and increasing the vigilance of guild activists can be effective in preventing the repetition of thefts and reducing the number of victims; therefore, developing cooperation between activists of the gold and jewelry trade and the law enforcement force, alongside the use of modern technologies, is an undeniable necessity.
