According to Mehr News Agency citing RT, thousands of supporters of Brazilian President Lula da Silva took to the streets of the capital to celebrate his re-election victory.

Published footage from the streets of Brazil indicates a massive turnout of the president's supporters showing their joy over the defeat of his rival Bolsonaro, a Trump ally.

Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the leftist president of Brazil, won the second round of the country's presidential election with 51.79% of the valid votes against Flavio Bolsonaro, the right-wing candidate and son of Brazil's former president, heading to the presidential palace for his fourth overall term in office. According to the final results announced by Brazil's Superior Electoral Court, Bolsonaro secured 48.21% of the votes.

This result not only ensured the continued presence of the left in Latin America's largest economy, but also prevented Washington from bringing one of the region's most important independent and influential countries closer to the axis of its policies through the victory of a candidate close to Donald Trump's political movement.
