According to ILNA, citing Anadolu Agency, a number of Asian leaders congratulated Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Monday on his historic victory in the Brazilian presidential election for a fourth term.
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung congratulated Lula, saying: "I believe that based on the trust and expectations placed in you by the people of Brazil, you will continue to play an important role in the future."
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim described Lula's victory as a fierce and nail-biting competition that has granted him renewed strength from the Brazilian people to lead their great nation.
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that Lula's victory has defeated the forces of corruption, division, and political lies.
Dissanayake wrote on X: "The historic victory in Brazil shows that the people cannot be fooled by bankrupt political dynasties and ghosts of the past who believe that might makes right."
In the second round of the presidential election, Lula defeated rival candidate Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, winning 51.79 percent of the valid votes—or more than 60 million ballots—compared to Bolsonaro's 48.21 percent.
