According to "Varzesh 3", on the second day of the 2026 World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships hosted by Kazakhstan, Hadi Saravi, the world and Olympic champion and top title contender in the 97 kg weight class, stepped onto the mat after receiving a bye in the first round.
The captain of Iran's Greco-Roman wrestling national team started off stormily, just as expected. He established his dominance over his opponent with a spectacular body lock followed by a gut wrench. Ultimately, Saravi, who was wrestling Hayk Khloyan of Armenia in the round of 16, managed to secure an 8-0 victory against his opponent.
Saravi achieved this dominant win against the Armenian wrestler in just the first 3 minutes, whereas in past years Arthur Aleksanyan, the star of this weight class for Armenia, was Saravi's main rival.
Iran's 97 kg Greco-Roman wrestler will face the winner between Kobliashvili of Georgia and Viog of Germany in the next round.
