Young Journalists Club; Azam Pourkand - Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, on Sunday rejected the claims of Moscow's involvement in the recent protests across Europe.
Putin, in an interview with Pavel Zarubin, a correspondent of the “Vesti” network, said: “When I first saw this subject, my initial reaction was surprise; because to say that we incite widespread protests in the big cities of Europe is exaggerated; a subject which, in my opinion, is clear also to the ordinary citizens of European countries.”
He added: “There is nothing unexpected here; Russia has always been accused of committing every great sin.”
The President of Russia also, referring to the initial reactions to the Europe protests, stated: “What surprised me? The initial reaction was not anti-Russian at all, but anti-American. They immediately began spreading rumors that the current developments in Europe are the result of the actions of the current US administration and its support for right-wing parties and movements.”
Putin said he had not expected the European leaders to criticize their main ally, namely the United States.
Meanwhile, Laurent Nunez, the French interior minister, accused the far left of trying to “stoke disorder” during the nationwide protests of this country.
