According to Mehr's correspondent, the ceremony unveiling the commemorative stamp for artificial intelligence in health was held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the conference hall of Sina Hospital.

Shahin Akhoundzadeh, deputy for research and technology at the Ministry of Health, at this ceremony, emphasizing the importance of the responsible use of artificial intelligence in medical sciences research, said: "Medical services are very diverse, and in using this technology we must definitely take the necessary care."

Referring to the impact of artificial intelligence on the development of new drugs, he added: "This technology can play an effective role in designing and developing new drugs and help reduce some of the heavy costs of pharmaceutical companies on the path to introducing new drugs."

The deputy health minister continued: "The use of artificial intelligence in medical services also has diverse areas, among them radiology, pathology and dermatology. Also, modeling and predicting the spread of diseases, analyzing public health data and examining the social factors affecting health are other areas in which this technology can be employed."

Akhoundzadeh stated: "Patients' confidential information should not be placed at the disposal of artificial intelligence, but unfortunately this is being done."

He added: "Artificial intelligence is a capable research colleague, but the scientific, ethical and legal responsibility for research conducted always rests with the researcher."

The deputy for research and technology at the Ministry of Health stressed: "I hope that, just as Sina Hospital, as Iran's oldest hospital, holds an important place in the country's modern medical history, it will also be a pioneer in the field of using artificial intelligence and employing this technology in providing hospital services."

Mohammad Taghi Talebian, head of Sina Hospital, said: "Sina Hospital is known as the country's oldest hospital, with 156 years of history."

He added: "The first state emergency department was at Sina Hospital. Also, the first kidney transplant from a brain-dead donor was performed at this hospital."

The head of Sina Hospital, referring to the promulgation of the National Artificial Intelligence Development Law by the President, said: "Under this law, various bodies are obliged to move within the determined framework and use the capacities of artificial intelligence to achieve their goals. In this regard, with the support of the Ministry of Health and Tehran University of Medical Sciences, we used the capacities of the Information and Communication Technology Research Institute to advance this program."

Talebian continued: "One of the areas of focus is examining the state of artificial intelligence in the health sector, assessing the country's current position and charting the future path of this technology, the specialized details of which will be explained by other speakers."

He considered the most important long-term goal of this event to be turning it into a national, annual program, saying: "We hope this event becomes a national and annual program so that hospitals and medical sciences universities across the country can raise their issues and problems."

Emphasizing the need to create a mechanism for collecting and prioritizing the health system's issues, the head of Sina Hospital added: "Our proposal is that a secretariat be formed for this purpose, so that the issues and problems raised by hospitals and universities are gathered there and categorized based on priorities. After identifying and prioritizing the issues, the capacities of research institutes and knowledge-based companies can be used to find suitable solutions and resolve the problems."
