According to "Varzesh 3", this incident occurred after Maignan received a red card during his team's Europa League defeat against Bournemouth.
The French national team player was shown a straight red card in the 27th minute after placing his glove in front of the face of American midfielder Tyler Adams and pushing him to the ground, conceding a penalty kick to the opponent.
AC Milan club stated in a statement released on Friday: "AC Milan strongly condemns all forms of racism and discrimination, as such behaviors are unacceptable and have no place either on or off the pitch. The club expresses its full support for Mike and once again reaffirms its ongoing commitment to promoting values, respect, and equality. These are the values of AC Milan."
Bournemouth converted the penalty to make it 2-0, and later scored another goal in the second half to win 3-0. This was Milan's first defeat in all competitions this season.

In its statement, Milan urged fans and the Italian League to unite in the fight against racism.
The club said in its statement: "Ultimately, we must unite as Milan fans and as a league. The only way we can return Italian football to its rightful place is by standing together and utilizing our best qualities, both individually and collectively. We all want to win, but we must win the right way, maintaining dignity, mutual respect, and good sportsmanship." Maignan, of African descent, had previously spoken out about being subjected to racist abuse.
During an Italian Serie A match in August 2024, Maignan left the pitch after hearing racist chants from opposing fans, which led to a temporary suspension of the match in the first half.
Maignan told DAZN at the time: "They were making monkey noises and this is not the first time this has happened to me. They need to impose much stricter penalties because talking is no longer useful. We must state clearly that what they are doing is wrong. This behavior does not represent the entire fan base; most fans want to cheer for their team and criticize you, which is normal, but not in this way."
