IRNA: The press conference of Esmail Baghaei, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, was held today, October 26, 2026, with journalists and media representatives in attendance.

In response to the question, "A former US president has said that Iran did not have nuclear weapons and the US, without firing even a single missile, prevented Iran from acquiring a nuclear bomb through diplomacy. What is your assessment of these statements?", the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said: "The fact that Iran did not have nuclear weapons is a reality. Iran has not only never possessed nuclear weapons, but has never sought to acquire them either. This is part of the reality of the past two decades. Another reality is that Iran participated in a negotiation process in good faith and signed an agreement in 2015; however, the US side withdrew from this agreement just three years later, without any reason or excuse, and then imposed extensive measures against Iran."

He added: "We hope that the American public opinion becomes aware of these realities; that the ruling establishment of this country, over several decades, under the influence of the Zionist regime's propaganda, has instilled a big lie called 'Iran's nuclear bomb' into its public opinion and then based military aggression against Iran on this very lie. Despite claiming that they had completely destroyed Iran's nuclear program, eight months later they once again committed military aggression against Iran. The interesting point is that they continue to repeat the exact same claim. It is perhaps rare in history that a lie forms the basis of threats against international peace and security, a country is attacked based on it, and subsequently the same lie is repeated to threaten that country once again."

In response to US claims regarding Iran's nuclear weapons, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said: "America lies and we tell the truth; Iran has never sought nuclear weapons and our country's nuclear program is completely peaceful. The opposing side fabricated a lie from the beginning and has continuously repeated and promoted it over the past 30 years. Repeating a lie does not turn it into truth. The American and world public opinion must pay serious attention to this matter."
