According to Varzesh 3, Atletico Madrid secured a 1-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna at the Metropolitano Stadium, extending their unbeaten run across all competitions to eight matches (seven wins and one draw) and cutting the gap with Barcelona in the La Liga title race to just two points.
Atletico completely dominated the first half, with Julian Alvarez emerging as one of the standout figures. He first unleashed a shot from outside the box that narrowly missed the target. Alvarez later dribbled past several opponents with skillful moves to set up Barrios, but his shot sailed over the crossbar.
Nevertheless, Deportivo quickly demonstrated why they had suffered only two defeats prior to this match in La Liga (two wins and five draws). They gradually balanced the game and orchestrated several coordinated and dangerous attacks. Deportivo even came close to scoring a surprise goal. A free-kick by Yeremay Hernandez was parried by Jan Oblak, but Atletico's reliable goalkeeper followed up with a spectacular save to deny Lorenzo Amatucci from the rebound.
However, this was Deportivo's only serious chance in the first half. Before the break, Atletico had other opportunities to score, but both Lee Kang-in and Morten Hjulmand sent their shots over the bar.
At the start of the second half, Atletico did not need much time to break the deadlock. Alejandro Grimaldo's dangerous cross reached the penalty area, and Julian Alvarez—who is gradually rebuilding his relationship with the club following his failed summer transfer—sent a precise shot into the bottom corner to score in his second consecutive match. This marked the ninth time in Atletico's ten La Liga matches this season that they scored the opening goal. Diego Simeone's side sought to extend their lead; first, Alex Baena's shot was saved by Leo Roman, and then Atletico center-back David Hancko tried his luck from distance, but the ball went just over the crossbar.
Nevertheless, much like last week's match against Espanyol, a single goal was enough for Atletico to claim their eighth victory of this La Liga season (along with one draw and one defeat). With this result, Atletico also continued their unbeaten run in their last 15 official encounters with Deportivo (12 wins and three draws).
