According to a report by the correspondent of  IRIB News Agency, Mohammad Taghi Talebian, the head of Sina Hospital, at the unveiling ceremony of the first commemorative stamp of artificial intelligence in the field of health, emphasizing the importance of developing artificial intelligence in the health system, said: The use of this technology can help improve the quality of hospital services, assist physicians in solving diagnostic problems, and improve the management processes of medical centers and, ultimately, provide the ground for offering better services to patients. Mohammad Taghi Talebian added: The targeted use of artificial intelligence can play an effective role in resolving the challenges of the treatment field.

Pointing to the activities of research centers in the field of artificial intelligence, he said: Currently, research centers in various specialties are pursuing activities in this area; among them, in the field of urology, research using the analysis of facial features to assess the risk of developing some cancers, including prostate cancer, is underway. Talebian also emphasized the need to organize and integrate these activities and to identify the real needs of physicians, hospitals, and universities.

The head of Sina Hospital, pointing to the application of artificial intelligence in medical education, said: This technology can help improve planning, increase speed, and enhance the quality of the education of medical students and residents. He expressed hope that, by creating coordination among research centers and using the capacity of specialized institutions, the ground for a more targeted use of artificial intelligence in the fields of treatment, research, and education will be provided.

The head of Sina Hospital announced planning to turn the artificial intelligence in health event into a national and annual program. Mohammad Taghi Talebian, pointing to the 156-year history of this hospital, said: The goal of this event is to identify and prioritize the needs and problems of hospitals and universities of medical sciences in the fields of health and technology and to provide solutions in cooperation with knowledge-based companies.

Mohammad Hossein Sheikhi, the head of the Research Institute for Information and Communications Technology, emphasizing the need to develop artificial intelligence in the country, said: Given the speed of technological developments, moving along the path of artificial intelligence is inevitable, but alongside using the capacities of this technology, national interests must also be taken into account. He added: Artificial intelligence, by analyzing a vast volume of data, can help more accurate decision-making in various fields, especially medicine and health.

Sheikhi, pointing to the capacity of artificial intelligence in diagnosing and treating diseases, said: Medical images, laboratory results, and health information are valuable resources for training smart systems and can be placed at the disposal of physicians as an auxiliary tool. He also considered personalized medicine one of the important applications of this technology and, pointing to the licensing of around 1,600 artificial intelligence-related products by the US Food and Drug Administration, emphasized the expansion of the use of this technology in the health system.

The head of the Research Institute for Information and Communications Technology considered the protection of patients' information and the anonymization of health data among the requirements for the development of artificial intelligence and stated: Patients' sensitive information should not be placed at the disposal of systems outside the country without regulation. Sheikhi also announced the readiness of this research institute to cooperate in developing artificial intelligence in the field of health and expressed hope that the experience begun at Sina Hospital will turn into a national movement and lead to the improvement of medical services and the promotion of the people's health.

Continuing this ceremony, the head of the Research Institute for Information and Communications Technology considered artificial intelligence a tool for helping physicians in diagnosing and treating diseases and emphasized the need to protect health data. Mohammad Hossein Sheikhi said: Analyzing medical images and laboratory results with the help of artificial intelligence can help the development of personalized medicine and more accurate decision-making; however, the confidentiality of patients' information and the anonymization of data must be among the fundamental principles of developing this technology in the health system.
