While tech companies and AI investors have poured hundreds of millions of dollars into US election campaigns, new polls show that this extensive financial support will likely be followed by a negative reaction from voters.
According to IRIB News Agency , and as reported by the Futurism news website, prominent companies and figures in the field of artificial intelligence have brought huge financial resources into the election races. Among them, Elon Musk has donated more than $445 million to the Republicans, and the "Leading The Future" committee, backed by figures from OpenAI and Palantir, has managed to raise $140 million.
However, the results of a poll by the "Guardrails Action" group of more than 3,000 voters in key states (Iowa, Michigan and Ohio) show that these investments do not necessarily benefit the candidates.
According to this research, 75 percent of respondents have said that learning that a candidate has received financial support from AI backers reduces the likelihood of their voting for that candidate.
Also, 25 percent of participants have said that, to counter the influence of big tech companies and the construction of data centers, they might even set aside their party affiliation. Researchers attribute this development to public concerns about job losses and the excessive influence of tech capital in politics.
